The Art Song Consortium is thrilled and thankful for the opportunity to share the significance of the seasons through an evening of art songs and duets with our audience back home in Singapore. We almost obtained a full house and for that we are very grateful for the support of our Singapore audience.
“Four Seasons fill the Measure of the year;
Four Seasons are there in the mind of Man […]”
The seasons—a reflection of the different phases of our lives—inspire this evening’s recital. This notion is portrayed through the songs by Britten, A. Goh and Vaughan Williams. Furthermore, the facets of the seasons and their symbolism are musically illustrated in the songs of composers such as Mendelssohn, Mahler and Schumann. All in all, these diverse styles connect to form the unifying thread of this recital—the human seasons.
Joined by Aloysius Foong on the piano, we embarked on a musical journey through the seasons, performing songs composed by Benjamin Britten, Americ Goh, John Ireland, Gustav Mahler, Felix Mendelssohn, Hubert Parry, Robert Schumann, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Hugo Wolf and Alexander Zemlinsky.
<<The Human Seasons>> is not just a recital comprising of solo repertoire shared between two sopranos, but it also places equal emphasis on duets. Singing together is a joyful experience and the rehearsing process is equally rewarding. Our commitment in refined music-making is steadfast, especially in the field of art song.
Our heartfelt thanks to the National Arts Council and Unicorn Financial Solutions for their support.
